apocalypse, apocalyptic — The adjective refers to a type of eschatology, the projection of the "end" (eshatos) of all things (in both the sense of termination and goal.) The literary expression, apocalypse, features elaborate descriptions of the supposed final times of the world and may predict new world beginnings. The biblical Ezekiel, Gospel of Mark, and Revelations all contain influential apocalyptic elements.
