As Guatemala 's current Minister of Guatemala's National Front against Hunger (La Secretatria de Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional — SESAN) Mr. Botran has brought international attention to world hunger. He holds a degree in manufacturing engineering from University of Boston. Mr. Botran was heavily involved in the development of sugar as a worldwide commercial industry, and has subsequently started his own successful sugar company. He serves on the board of directors for the Financiera Guatemalteca S.A.
