Imagination Stations!
by Ashley Carter,
Coordinator of Imagination Stations
Mythic Journeys 2006 will introduce a new concept called Imagination Stations.
Early in the planning stages of the current conference, we imagined spaces
created to inspire collaboration, creativity, and conversations among
presenters and participants at the conference. The Imagination Stations reflect
the elemental themes of Mythic Journeys 2006.
The Earth Station will be located in the Marketplace, featuring mask – making,
community quilting and weaving projects. The Air Station will invite presenters
and participants to explore and share dreams and inspiration through writing,
making prayer flags, and the creation of a community story tapestry. The Fire
Station will be facilitated by the actors of Atlanta’s Collective Works Troupe,
who will present wandering archetypes and encourage improvisational play
through costumes and the masks made at the Earth Station. Participants may
relax and play together in the Water Station, where luxurious cushions and
musical instruments will be available throughout the conference. Storytellers
and performers will visit the stations to inspire and entertain.
Imagination Stations are the places where we step beyond the boundaries and
distancing of performing on stage and being seated in the audience to interact
and share directly with conference presenters in new and unexpected
combinations. Magic happens in the places between planned destinations, so
please visit these Imagination Stations to play, create, and discover as you
journey through this mythic weekend!
