The Mythic Imagination Institute is a nonprofit arts and
education charitable organization. While we don’t clothe the naked or
shelter the homeless, we do provide sustenance. As one of our board members
pointed out recently, “we feed the people who feed the hungry.”
While our goal is to reach popular audiences, our programs
can only reach a few at a time. Even if we broadcast or publish the programs,
we know we can’t reach everyone. But any culture movement begins with
a few. We have to start with the seekers, those already hungry for meaning.

We’ve said that we hope to make the world a better
place. Can we really make a significant difference by touching only a few?
We think it’s a great place to start. After that, the message spreads
in an ever-expanding circle through “Hundredth Monkey Syndrome,” a
concept that describes how ideas reach “critical mass” to become
a part of popular culture and the collective psyche.
