Holly Black

Holly Black is a bestselling author of several contemporary fantasy novels for children and teens. The Spiderwick Chronicles, a 5-book New York Best Selling collaboration with Tony DiTerlizzi, has been called "vintage Victorian fantasy" by the New York Post. The series received starred reviews in Publisher's Weekly and Kirkus, and has been translated into 27 languages worldwide.

Black's suburban fantasy debut novel,Tithe: A Modern Faerie Tale also received starred reviews in Publisher's Weekly and Kirkus Reviews. Booklist called Tithe "dark, edgy, beautifully written, and compulsively readable." A finalist for the Mythopoeic Award, Tithe was one of the ALA's Best Books for Young Adults and the New York Public Library's "Best 2002 Books for the Teenage".

Her most recent works include Valiant, a novel set both in and underneath New York, and Notebook for Fantastical Observations, an interactive storybook based on The Spiderwick Chronicles that features seventeen mini-adventures collected from faerie watchers around the globe, as well as pages for readers to add their own stories, maps, charts, notes, lists, diagrams, and drawings.

Mythic Journeys was honored to have Holly Black as a guest speaker for MJ '04. We're even more delighted that she has agreed to return for MJ '06.
